The song My heart cried, on words by the late young poet David Schnapp comes from the David cycle songs. The poet employs a style close to biblical in describing his desire to bring the skies closer to earth: "To bring skies closer to earth, and I stand as a ladder in between, I will climb upon myself, To touch, only to touch the blue skies. Alas, between hope and rise I have fallen, and dragged the ladder with me, far away have risen the skies, and the earth with anger has accepted me. Who will give me strenght to heal my broken bones and cure them? A new ladder to set from the valley, and only to see the blue skies." The Transylvanian Israeli composer has written the music to the song cycle first premiered in 1993.
