Feb 26, 2008 - thanks so very much for posting this - i was the bass player, and i haven't seen this video since we made it - my dear old mum slams the front door in graham's face, and the band were filmed in his parent's front room!

Feb 28, 2008 - Andrew Bodnar: This is some of the finest bass playing on a pop recording.....outstanding! Brings back a lot of memories. Aint YouTube great? Thanks for the background on the video!

Feb 29, 2008 - Classic. Thanks for posting! This song is pure class. Great lyrics, excellent playing and that guitar hook is insanely good.

Mar 2, 2008 - Thanks for the music mate. It`s wild that you haven`t seen the clip for almost exactly 30 years. Sorry I didn`t upload it sooner :)!

Mar 23, 2008 - JJ is better now than he ever was. Even this early on it is safe to say that I won't buy a better CD than "Rain" all year.

allenchampagne Says:

Mar 23, 2008 - Kinda looked like Roberto Begnini in this clip. YOU LIKA WALT WIT-A-MAN!?

Mar 26, 2008 - It's a little too fast and is bothering me a lot

BPavsner Says:

Mar 27, 2008 - Well, I can certainly understand the Elvis Costello comparisons. In three words: Serperated at birth.

roquefortfiles Says:

Apr 18, 2008 - Very very catchy tune. And yeah the guitar riff just kills. Love it.

Durlaker Says:

Apr 20, 2008 - Es una pena que Parker haya tenido que soportar toda la vida las comparaciones con Costello (el de la primera época). Paker es mucho más fresco, más pop, aunque quizás un compositor menos brillante.

Apr 20, 2008 - GP is a GOD....

May 31, 2008 - I have this song on an old beat up cassette somewhere- haven't heard it in years. I forgot how much I like it. And this video~~ low budget, cheezy, GREAT!

biakeyholedave Says:

Jun 3, 2008 - Squeezing out Sparks most under-rated album ever. Thank goodness after all this time I can see I'm not alone. Yeah, similarities with Costello very noticeable, and at the time GP was not far behind in terms of exposure, but for whatever reason didn't go on. Sickener to see so many multi-millionaires from that period but presumably not GP. TOP MAN!

Jun 3, 2008 - This song was stuck in my head at work all day long. I am so glad to hear it and know other's still enjoy it.

Jun 14, 2008 - does anybody have a copy of gp's soundstage performance in the late 70s .if so plz postit

takinglibertys Says:

Jun 15, 2008 - If my memory serves me right, SOS (Squeezing Out Sparks) was beat out by "Afternoon Delight' - Starland/Starlight Vocal Group for a Grammy in '76 or '77. The 70's were so pathetic. GP, you surely deserved so much better.

BPavsner Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Parket and a ton of other guys deserved better than the exposure they got. Don't tell me that "Girls Talk" (Rockpile) or "Teenage Kicks (the Undertones) aren't damn great songs.

jasonfaessel Says:

Aug 6, 2008 - ....well, yeah you guys, i definitely agree... under rated. I kind of view Graham as the american equivanent of Elvis Costello,(as talented )but, who either through bad promotion, shady contracts, or under funding was summarily remanded to reletive obscurity...time will tell! Jason

manwithnoname123 Says:

Aug 6, 2008 - yeah, Graham Parker reminds me of another personal favorite, too - Elvis Costello. both musicians were putting out some of the best music of the late '70's and '80's but never really enjoyed the broad commercial success that they deserved. And both fronted nonpareil backing bands - Parker with the Rumour and Costello with the Attractions. they don't get any better than that, folks!!!

Aug 7, 2008 - Graham is british

Aug 23, 2008 - I remember going to see Cheap Trick,(who I love), and GP was the opener. Guess what album I bought the next day? "Squeezing Out Sparks"!! Still in heavy rotation.

TheDDG Says:

Sep 22, 2008 - Squeezing Out Sparks didn't come out until 1979, so your timeline is a bit off.
