I had great fun playing the part of an 18th Century coquette, even though the costume (designed and made my me) was incredibly heavy to skate in!

Jan 16, 2008 - Oh my gosh. Love the costume, and the fan. So "Mozart"-y! Very nice spiral, and entertaining, cute program. You have nice posture, good lunge, too. And a nice smile!

Jan 16, 2008 - I had been dying to do a Mozart program for ages, since I love his music, and hadn't seen any artistic programs with that theme. It's hard to come up with something that hasn't been done before! So glad you liked it, and thanks so much for the lovely comments!

Jan 17, 2008 - So original! I LOVE the costume - dress, fan, even the wig. You have a beautiful spiral. And I thought the little toepick hops were very coquettish:)

Jan 19, 2008 - Thanks morgail! I did a little of the choreography, including the toepick hops. Skating with a fan is lovely...you can keep your face cool out there!

Jan 26, 2008 - LOL you could've worn padded crash pants under that skirt and look "authentical", LOL!!!

Jan 26, 2008 - I really liked the wiggle with the head at that pause in the programme too. it was very era-true too!

Jan 27, 2008 - Glad you liked that wiggle, but what I was really doing was trying to get my balance! The costume was so heavy that every time I did a turn of any sort, the momentum threw me off balance :)

Jan 27, 2008 - What kind of material did you use, just lycra? Did the multiple layers add up that much?
GlitteringGirl65 Says:
Jan 28, 2008 - I used mainly blue velvet, with lace inserts. The sleeves have three layers, and the front 'panel' is velvet with lace overlay. Velvet isn't usually too heavy, unless the dress is as long as that one! Certainly it's far heavier than lycra, but I thought that velvet was more authentic looking than lycra; a modern synthetic. I like the idea of the crash pants lol! Glad we don't have to wear such cumbersome clothes today...
