Here is an easy tutorial for people who dont really know where to start when making a montage. Its got plenty of visual references, so it should be easy to pick up. Now this is a SUGGESTED way, there are MANY ways to record, and MANY ways to edit. But this way just seems to work for me. And excuse my piece of garbage TV... XD A few tips, food for thought. *If you're REALLY serious about this, get a strong laptop instead of a desktop, then you can record your clips, and take your editing somewhere else. *To save time of recording every clip seperately, instead, set your recording time to 5-10 minutes, and record several clips at once, in which you edit out the needless parts in the editing process. *To save more time with that, try to upload clips based of the same MAP. Then you wont have to reload the map for each clip. *The AVERAGE prices run down to here. I have Sony Vegas 7, and a Dazzle DVD Recorder, same as you, but it seems that the files aren't capable of being opened in Sony Vegas, or atleast they don't open for me. When I do manage to open them, they open as Dvd menus. I can't figure out how to get them. I tried converting the files from VOB to AVI, but it didn't work. Any tips?

Jul 10, 2008 - Easy fix. Windows movie maker reads .VOB files (Basic DVD filetype), so just throw your raw dvd file into windows movie maker, publish it, then it'll become an easy to use WMV format. Only thing is the quality is reduced, but its well worth it. Hope that helps.

Btw, when it comes to ripping songs from vids, you can do this using a FireFox plug in, which downloads videos from players off the net for you. I use AnyVideoConverter to create it into a certain file type. In the case of songs, I'll make it into an MP3 File. Should be less strenuous than your process.

Hear the cold hard facts- THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE A MONTAGE FROM SCRATCH WITHOUT PURCHASING EQUIPMENT TO MAKE IT! You HAVE to have a computer and of COURSE an XBOX 360 and a TV. If you had enough money or just lucky your parents bought you that, you might just re-consider making your OWN way to get a hold of the equipment needed. Internal/External capture devices,and editing programs add up to 75$+ MINNIMUM.

If u havent heard of Fry´s then just go to BestBuy. and as for not having the money...i say u just hit a dead end.
