Why would a father kill his own daughters? He was a Muslim. He had his firm ideas, inculcated by those who back in Egypt had helped to form him, about the inferiority and role of women. He would not stand for his daughters refusing to obey him. He would not stand for his daughters dressing in a non-Islamic fashion.
