The Vijf Klavierstukken (five piano pieces) by Arthur Verhoeven were published in Antwerp c1922-3. Verhoeven (1889-1958) was a pupil of the Antwerp conservatory. He wrote a lot of church music, cantatas, the opera Valentine, orchestral works, piano music and chamber music (my thanks to YouTube member WilliamvdK for this information). Like other pieces in the set, this work seems to be permeated by the sound of peals of bells in various registers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Played by Phillip Sear http://www.psear.co.uk

Jan 7, 2008 - Thanks, Moontribe. It should definitely be Antwerp and I will correct the spelling. Verhoeven was Flemish, and I always try to put the titles of music I play in the composer's native languages.

Jan 7, 2008 - Beautiful! I really liked listening to this. Great work once again Phillip. Probably a typo, but I think those pieces were published in "Antwerp" or "Antwerpen". It's funny to see piece wich is written in my native language (Vijf Klavierstukken). It sounds really Dutch, though, I think Arthur was a composer born in Belgium, since the pieces were published in "Antwerp".
