Mar 1, 2008 - I've never heard it explained that the slow movements actually build up the energy. That would mean that very quick movements release energy I suppose. Cool.

Mar 1, 2008 - You are somewhat correct that fast movements release energy. In the internal martial arts, slow is used to build and fast will release the energy effectively. Fast can also be used to build up chi as well. For health reasons, since the body is too yang most of the time, we want to cool down the fire chi of the body, thats reason for the slower movements which build up more yin (cooling) energy, balances and purifies the chi. This is how it helps to increase our health & lifespan. Thank you :)
