Nov 3, 2008 - Through the curves, snow and rain too? Camaros aren't that amazing.
boondocksaint18 Says:
Nov 3, 2008 - yea cause we all want to race in snow and rain . fans love to stand out and watch the race in that weather lol
deepsinK Says:
Nov 4, 2008 - yes because we all buy cars only to race in a straight line. People love to be one dimensional in their ideals.
boondocksaint18 Says:
Nov 4, 2008 - Not what i meant.rwd are better for drag, drift and auto cross. awd cars are good at auto cross but most have over steer to a degree (comes from having power go to the front wheels) . the only 1 that the sti can do that the camaro could not is rally witch no sti owner would do because they don't want to break a $30,000 car. you can come back with how a sti would kill a camaro on auto cross but ls1 fbodys handle better then ls1 gtos witch killed the wrx sti time on the top gear track

Nov 4, 2008 - too bad the sti still won because it is actually a good looking car :)
BuRd32 Says:
Nov 5, 2008 - there is not too many cars out here that will beat the stock trans am, unless u turbo them and junk
poetikplaya Says:
Nov 7, 2008 - top gear tested the sti vs gto? i'd like to see that. all i found was emunds and their stupid test..."the gto completes the 1/4 miles in 14 seconds..and the sti a tenth of a second slower"..while in reality both the cars rape the 13's. i doubt the gto or any of the fbodies can out perform an STI on course track... that race..fair enough..when it comes to two fast cars..it narrows even more to the faster (better) driver.
boondocksaint18 Says:
Nov 7, 2008 - 14 secs lol. that video response is me in my 1998 z28 camaro stock vs a 2003 wrx sti and my z28 not as fast as a 6.0 gto .go to a track see for urselff quit looking at magazine reviews.i have seen a stock 2006 gto run a 12.92 @ beach bend
boondocksaint18 Says:
Nov 7, 2008 - also went to watch that reveiw u to understand a 10th of a sec makes the wrx sti time a 13.9. witch just like the gto time is way way off .

Nov 8, 2008 - maybe he was letting off just a tad so we could see a full frontal! :D

Nov 8, 2008 - haha fo sho

Nov 9, 2008 - I'm a big fan of STI's for the handling factor, but if drag racing is your thing, nothing beats a bigger engine. Leave the STI's on the rally courses where they belong.
helldamnfart Says:
Nov 9, 2008 - ya, the GTOs are capable of low 13s, into the 12s with a great driver and perfect conditions. STI is also capable of low 13s, but i know it wont hit the 12s stock, but a simple retune will put it there. so give the GTO slicks, and the STI a full retune, youll spend about the same amount and both will be fast as fuck for pretty cheep.

Nov 11, 2008 - Someone is learning how to shift a 6 speed... Z28=314hp 340 ftlbs curb-3,439 lbs STI=300hp 300 ftlbs curb-3,351lbs The Verdict? Keep trust fund babies out of fast cars!!!
Domman56 Says:
Nov 16, 2008 - Has nothing to do with the cars actually these STi's and EVO's as well have no top end, they're built to go fast to about 70 after that they're left for dead... I mean I've taken a few evo's in my elcamino on the freeway and it'snot even that quick, It's just due to the lack of top end from the Jap car
helldamnfart Says:
Nov 16, 2008 - thats true for a lot of them. i can attest to that fact with my WRX. the tiny TD04 turbo gives a lot of low end hp and tq with quick spool, but after seeing 20psi at 3500rpm the boost drops to 11psi at red line. There is a simple fix for this however, its called a bigger turbo and supporting mods. though to be fair, yould have to give the competing V8 the same $ worth of mods too, so its a constand battle between drivability, practicality, and power that will go on for the forseeable future.
helldamnfart Says:
Nov 16, 2008 - the smaller turbos are made for drivability, cause you dont wana wait all day for a big turbo to make your 500hp in traffic. at the track its ok, cause you can spool it up with launch control in an AWD like the subi and EVO. So most people go with a mid size turbo like a GT30 series to get plenty of stop and go power, and enough to do some damage at the track as well. Big V8s are still fun and turbo one of those properly, and DAMN! but that gets expensive quick.
Domman56 Says:
Nov 16, 2008 - Not really 'casue the V8 is always gonna have the upper hand on the freeway and in top nd But if the WRX driver can drive at all he should ALWAYS be able to get the jump off the line, at leastup till 60 becaust of the AWD
helldamnfart Says:
Nov 16, 2008 - ive seen lots of well built turbo 4s out run v8s on the highway, but i also know that these turbo 4s have had some good work done to them. not saying it was super expensive, but if you build it right, they can keep up, just depends on what youre looking for. If you put a BIG ass turbo on a 4 cyl, it will run fast on the highway, but have a lot of lag from a dig and be tough to drive in the city. so it depends on what you want. v8 will have good low end tq and high end hp, generally.
boondocksaint18 Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - the sti is made to make lower boost at high speed for durability reason that and the fact its awd takes it toll on the top end . now this doesn't mean its a complete dog still fast just not as fast as it would be if it was just a rwd car.More times then not turbos from a roll cause theirs no lag the dam thing is spooled. a 500 hp na car vs a 500 hp turbo car near the same weight and gears turbo cars whens top end 9 out of 10 times easy
booch137 Says:
Nov 28, 2008 - Hopefully this ends the statements of "WRX is faster than LS1's"
jackielyon87 Says:
Dec 1, 2008 - im suprised the sti didnt pull away at least at the launch. i thought you could launch it at 5200 rpms and with awd it shouldve taken the camaro at the beginning. i know after the launch the camaro would catch up, just thought the beginning would be a little better than that. i definately love both cars!
V8Muscle403 Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - You realize how horrific GTOs handle right? A Subaru WRX STI is WAY outta its league, you cannot even make a comarison in the handling dept. GTOs are so shitty, there slow pigs that cannot handle or brake. Plus it looks like a grand Prix. It's shit. Belive me I've driven one.

kfillner Says:
Nov 1, 2008 - Blah Blah Blah, talk shit drive what you wanna drive, I'll just keep borrowing my dads Z28 when my deville can't beat em, btw I smoke people all the time with the caddy, sounds mean cuz it usually is, oh and comfortable, good for blazin too.
