Archer g Dr. Gleason Archer Preaches on this Topic. Archer's father was Gleason Archer, Sr., the founder of Suffolk University. Archer graduated in 1938 with a B.A. from Harvard University (summa cum laude in Classics) and received an LL.B. from Suffolk Law School in 1939, the same year he was admitted to the Massachusetts bar. In 1940 he received a masters degree and in 1944 he was awarded a Ph.D. at Harvard University in Classics. Finally he received his Bachelor of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1945. Archer served as a Pastor of Park Street Church in Boston from 1945 to 1948. He then became a Professor of Biblical Languages at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California from 1948 to 1965. From 1965 to 1986 he served as a Professor of Old Testament and Semitics at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Illinois. He became an emeritus faculty member in 1989. The remainder of his life was spent researching, writing, and lecturing. Archer served as one of the 50 original translators of the NASB published in 1971. He also worked on the team which translated the NIV Bible published in 1978. His defense of the doctrine of Biblical inerrancy by proposing harmonizations and exegesis regarding inconsistencies in the Bible made Archer a well known biblical inerrantist. He stated: "One cannot allow for error in history-science without also ending up with error in doctrine." He was critical of the documentary hypothesis which denies the Mosaic authorship of the Pentateuch.

Jun 8, 2008 - LOL!- that is the biggest crock of crap I have ever heard, and can't believe you actually believe that. LOL! Okay, whatever, that explains your apostate theology, replacement theology, and heresy. Um...I would say you should pray about that.
themistoklisp Says:
Jun 8, 2008 - Jesus came to establish the Kingdom of God which is His Church. Jesus told His Apostles to preach the Gospel until the ends of the earth. In the beginning He came to His own but His own denied Him. The only GATE to get to God is JESUS if you try to get in any other way you are a thief and a robber, this is what Jesus said READ JOHN CHAPTER 10!
themistoklisp Says:
Jun 8, 2008 - You are a false teacher, a heretic, and I call, you in the Name of Jesus to repent. You preach ANOTHER GOSPEL ",the only way to get into New Jerusalem is through one of the 12 gates named with the 12 tribes". The only way is Jesus! REPENT!
dgross563 Says:
Jun 8, 2008 - Um, no they didn't all deny him, remember all the Jewish believers who were zealots for the Torah? There are MANY Jewish believers today also...who have not forsaken God's commandments. We know salvation comes from God, Yeshua, and the New Jerusalem is still inscribed with OUR tribes names. He did make that new covenant with our two houses didn't he!
themistoklisp Says:
Jun 8, 2008 - This is why I have such a great issue with Sabbatarians they preach much more legalism and heresy. They have prophesied falsely in the past, and have not repented. If they like the law of Moses so much, they ought to read what the Law says to do to a false prophet (one who prophesied and it did not come to pass). But we are under Grace and the Church in Christ calls you to repent and follow Jesus not false prophets!
dgross563 Says:
Jun 8, 2008 - I said the only way into the literal city of New Jerusalem is through one of the 12 gates named with the 12 tribes. That's a fact.
themistoklisp Says:
Jun 8, 2008 - I love you, this is why I am so much upset with you. You are preaching another Gospel, I must warn you out of LOVE!
themistoklisp Says:
Jun 8, 2008 - Now I must follow Christ's command and leave you unto Him. "A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself" (Tit.3:10-11). I will not discuss more, I leave you to Jesus. I love you, you will be in my prayers!
dgross563 Says:
Jun 8, 2008 - Oh really, Jesus was Jewish. He came to die for sins, there is no way to the Father except through Jesus, that's another Gospel? Lol, you're just mad because because believing members of Israel stand up to your lies. You don't replace us, never have, never will, true believing Christians are grafted in.
dgross563 Says:
Jun 8, 2008 - Why bother with that command? You don't follow the others! Have a nice day;)
ricoman73 Says:
Jun 18, 2008 - why does mainstream christianity think that God delivered the Israelites from Egyptian bondage just to put them in "bondage" again? Just use some common sense and you will see that your argument makes no sense at all. The sabbath is a very easy topic to understand...it only gets complicated since the MAJORITY of Christianity has been deceived...doesn't that sound alot like the history of Israel?....sad how history repeats itself. Sunday is Satan's COUNTERFEIT! It passes for the real thing!
HTGoodness Says:
Jul 18, 2008 - Why would the Lord change the Sabbath? Did he make a mistake the first time? Did Jesus want to distance himself from the Jews, which he was too? Why would he then contradict himself in many places where talks about the importance of keeping the commandments and not changing them. Mat 5:17-19 (verse 18):For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Mat 7:21, Luk Joh 14:15,21, Rev 3:8, Rev 22:13-14,18-19
HTGoodness Says:
Jul 18, 2008 - Why isn't the change of days mentioned EXPLICITLY in the Bible? God wrote the ten commandments on STONE with his own finger TWICE. And wrote 'Remember' in the beginning. Wouldn't he at least once mention the change of plans in the Bible???
HTGoodness Says:
Jul 18, 2008 - I must say I was a little disappointed at Dr. Gleason Archer's explanations. I expected more from such a scholar. He points to not one single text in the Holy Scriptures that would CLEARLY prove the sanctity of Sunday. Not one. Only hearsays and interpretations texts of what might be the custom of the early church. Where as the 7th Day Sabbath arguments are clear and sound. It's just what the Bible says. Furthermore, I can't get over it: why fix it when it ain't broke???
gettalifenow Says:
Sep 19, 2008 - HT, same reaction here. His words will witness against him at Christ's judgment, unless he repents of his Rom 8:7 rebellion
gettalifenow Says:
Sep 19, 2008 - This speaker has all the signals of a transfer theology Presbyterian.
gettalifenow Says:
Sep 19, 2008 - The speaker is guilty of Rom 2:1 accusation at 3:25 - 3:35 I challenge all megachurch preachers to a debate on th etrashing of the 4th commandment in front of thier congregations. Usually less than 10% of their congregations would accept the truth because they are Rom 8:7 rebels even attending church and they even acknowledge it.
gettalifenow Says:
Sep 19, 2008 - Listen carefully to what Archer says in reaction to the comment made about FROM SABBATH TO LORD'S DAY at 7:00, This speaker doesn't agree with DA CArson's conclusions. Do you see??? There is doctrinal discord among the SUNday scholars. This is what SATAN does. It is mention in Proverbs 6:16 and following verses. >>>>DECEPTION and discord
SKYSPLASH Says:
Sep 19, 2008 - I accidentally removed your last comment on 7-7 But I will say you have a Great Crusade to Lift Up Observe Just One Commandment of the Big Ten. Just One Commandment of the 613 Total. Where is Jesus. Why Lift Up Moses ? Can you really get Blessings from Observing the LAW ? You are Distorting the New Covenant by wrangling with words to prove your point. Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath Every day as unto the Lord for those Born Again have the mystery of Christ in them.
SKYSPLASH Says:
Sep 19, 2008 - Galatians 3 Faith or Observance of the Law 1You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? 3Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?
gettalifenow Says:
Sep 19, 2008 - That's ok SKY. So am I correct in that you imply that the sabbath is on the same significance level as the other 612? We have a PRE-JEW creation ordinance that Calvin and Luther botn noted. We have a commandment which was predecalog (Ex 16). We have God writing it with his own finger, which makes 10 different than 603 laws. We have a commandemnt that Jesus spent more time clarifying than any other..in the gospels and said it was made for man (not just Jews) and that it was lawful to do well on.
gettalifenow Says:
Sep 19, 2008 - We have the majority of the antinomian Chrsitian clergy corrupting Gal 3 and other passages just because they have the sabbath on their radar screen with missles targeted and launched
gettalifenow Says:
Sep 19, 2008 - There was a daytime game show on TV, years ago, called YOU DON'T SAY. At the end of the show , the MC would always say..."remember, it's not what they say that counts, it's WHAT THEY DON'T SAY". Same with this speaker. If I was in that crowd, I would turn it upside down because what I say , most have never heard before. They are victims of pic n choose false doctrine. I share Acts 20:7, Rom 14:5, Gal 4:10,1 Cor 16:1&2 but I share the passages that they are afraid of.
gettalifenow Says:
Sep 19, 2008 - The law/commandemnts, in principle, are an indicator of how authentic, genuine, or mature ones love, trust and relationship is with God and humans. Humans are not saved by the law, they are saved by Jesus' blood, His grace, the Spirit, the Bible, and surrendaring their will to God. The law is a detector if one is walking after the flesh or in Christ/Spirit. If in the flesh, it condemns, if in the spirit it does not.

dgross563 Says:
Jun 8, 2008 - So what! You should know the meaning of the word. I know what you think the day of Pentecost is, and that's been taught for thousands of years, but you're wrong. Jesus did not come to start a new religion. He was Jewish, and the new covenant was made with House of Israel and House of Judah, the only way to get into New Jerusalem is through one of the 12 gates named with the 12 tribes. So like I said, although you fight for a separate Christianity, there is no gate marked "Christian."
