Here is my first attempt to shoot video of a train in the rain. Here is Amtrak "San Joaquin" Train 713 pausing at Modesto, California at 2:55 pm. It was pouring rain when I got there and it made for a what I think was a cool shot. The train was led by Amtrak-California (CDTX) #2011, which is an F59PHI, has a kick-ass K5LA on it. Please enjoy, rate it and leave comments!

duramax6600 Says:

Jan 6, 2008 - So do I, but we don't get much rain out here most of the year. Also, this train left like five minutes before the weather went down hill.

Amtrak98 Says:

Jan 7, 2008 - Well here in florida it rains most of the time and i always see amtrak,tri-rail,csx,and fec trains when i go outside, and as soon as as i get another camera i will be out there railfanning.

duramax6600 Says:

Jan 7, 2008 - Yeah, this part of the major storm that made national news because storms like this are rare in California.

Feb 24, 2008 - was this taken on a saturday?

duramax6600 Says:

Feb 24, 2008 - Yeah, it was. I think it was the Saturday following the January 4-5, 2008 storm. This was filmed beofre we got cuaght in a microburst

amtrakboy627 Says:

Feb 25, 2008 - do you know if there was a lady engineer driving it?

duramax6600 Says:

Feb 28, 2008 - I couldn't tell because the rain was coming down so hard. But, the conductor that steeped off the train was pretty hot.

amtrakboy627 Says:

Feb 28, 2008 - oh. i think i saw this train a different time. Wait was it rainning at 1:20 do you know?

duramax6600 Says:

Mar 7, 2008 - It was raining and got worse afterwards. I was blindsided by winds I estimate to range up to 60 mph because the rain was coming down horizontally. I was under an overhang and got soaked. I went to my friend's truck and tried to dry off and called it quits when I was soaked to the bone. It was fun being in that though.

Mar 10, 2008 - Nice try you got here. I would think you should try it again. Whenever I get water on my lens it always blurs the train up, so the shot is usally lost.

duramax6600 Says:

Mar 17, 2008 - Check out my rain shot I got of BNSF 4449 at Cressey. I used my hat to shield the rain from getting on my camera. The shot turned out awesome.

SF3751 Says:

Mar 17, 2008 - I'll check it out.
