Feb 2, 2008 - where did u get the switch

leukotic Says:

Feb 21, 2008 - Neat, I cant wait to get my 10mW 405nm laser!

jayls5 Says:

Feb 21, 2008 - My friend and I had it left over from other science experiments.

kasjv Says:

Feb 21, 2008 - do u have a br diode in a housing for sale ?

jayls5 Says:

Feb 22, 2008 - We only sell completed models.

kasjv Says:

Feb 22, 2008 - oh thin never mind money is still money lol

phazonxl Says:

Mar 11, 2008 - I am currently building one of these! I have a microswitch on the side so you can press it nice and easy. Also, I want to include the option of using an external power supply to the module. did you use one of those radioshack project enclosures?

jayls5 Says:

Mar 11, 2008 - No, we ordered a custom powder coated aluminum one.

phazonxl Says:

Mar 12, 2008 - how many mA are you running that diode with?

jayls5 Says:

Mar 12, 2008 - Don't remember now... sold this one over a month ago. Ended up being 13mW violet though. The buyer was fine with that much power :)

phazonxl Says:

Mar 13, 2008 - Be careful with that much output power. It might not stand up to constant on. It might get too hot.

jayls5 Says:

Mar 13, 2008 - Yeah, I believe my friend offered to lower the power for the buyer for that very reason. Some are more efficient than others and handle that power fine though.

phazonxl Says:

Mar 14, 2008 - Is that a sony stacked diode? what are you driving the red with?

jayls5 Says:

Mar 14, 2008 - It's a regular blu-ray PS3 diode pulled from the tray. The red is being driven about 1mW with a regulating circuit similar to the one driving the blu-ray. It's just adjusted for lower output. I think this one we still used the LM317.

phazonxl Says:

Mar 14, 2008 - I'll have to get one of those diodes. I want to use the IR as well as red and blu-ray. Ever thought of making a 555 timer into that laser? It would be pretty neat to set the timer to run the laser for 30 and then shut off. Start the timer with a nice push button and put in your own duty cycle that will be automatic. Oh! even better! add thermistors and such with a similar setup to have thermal protection!

jayls5 Says:

Mar 14, 2008 - Ehh, at the power level I put most of my blu-rays it can be run continuously, so there's no point in a duty cycle. The IR is useless. It's not bright enough to burn and you can barely see it. psxboy (dot) com sells the trays for cheap.

phazonxl Says:

Mar 14, 2008 - Oh, exactly how hot is too hot for blu-rays? I thought it help if you wanted to crank it up. But I'll make something like that with my next burner red.

phazonxl Says:

Mar 14, 2008 - I just have a few more questions. How much do you sell them for and how easy is it to sell?

jayls5 Says:

Mar 16, 2008 - About 150 shipped, sells pretty much every time.

cicadafan Says:

Jun 11, 2008 - do you still sell them

jayls5 Says:

Jun 12, 2008 - Not actively. The prices went down to the point where my friend and I didn't think it was worth the effort anymore. We have like 5 diodes left which we're probably just going to make our own with, but if you really want one we can design it if the price is right.

deasz93 Says:

Jun 23, 2008 - hehe! not to be rude, but you sound like a teacher i have in school. BTW how do u get a blue ray laser pointer?

jayls5 Says:

Jun 23, 2008 - That's my friend in the video. We made the laser.

captainkeewl Says:

Nov 10, 2008 - a bit steep eh? wen i made mine last year it cost about half
