Jan 13, 2008 - Hello, is this a three motor recorder? you may find that the recorder will have an initial motor boost as it looks like from that micro switch, you should be able to adjust that to remove the tape bounce, I have not had one of these Akai's, but the Teac's and the Studer's can suffer this problem and I got over it by adjusting the initial start surge.

Jan 13, 2008 - Yes, that is the "quick tension" switch I mentioned. That is what provides the boost on the supply reel motor during startup. Once I get the proper grease back on it, it will operate properly.
