Such memories! Here is my new-ish interpretation on this unique and wonderful piece. For comparison, I had a previous/old video of me playing this. Regarding my interpretation, it's quite unique compared to different pianists. Especially if you compare it to sodaorat's interpretation, mine is very unusual. Parts like 2:02, about 3:21, etc. It's what the critics call, "heavy phrasing", but I like it. It gives an impression you're actually putting effort into shaping your own interpretation and ideas, and not just 'copying' someone else's. Also, I have to mention that I did this in only a take because like my other videos (My Way, I'm Proud, etc.), I'm performing this on my first recital as well. And at the end, I was so excited and nervous at the same time. Excited because I actually made the piece sound like what I wanted in one take, and nervous because if I make a mistake at the end, well, it's not one take anymore, which I'm trying to accomplish. One last thing that I want to remind everyone, that this is not an improvisation. As much as I want it to be *sigh*, it's not. It's a very nice arrangement though. The first jazz piece that I've tried. The first time I tried it I had a very hard time with the timing. The left hand has this *bap* - *babap* rhythm, and the right hand is totally different. Took me a LOOOOOONG time to absorb the concept. (LOL, Arkton [Thomas] should know). Anyway, I hope you enjoy my performance guise. ~~~ Info (for the contest): I have been playing the piano for 4 3/4 years now (will be five years in April). I had piano lessons on my first year of piano (April 2003-2004). For the past 3 and 1/4 years, I have been self-studying piano and have been learning different techniques and tips from online books, piano books from libraries, and from different pianists like Kyle Landry (improvisation), Lang Lang, Yundi Li, Barenboim (classical piano), etc. Some of the genres I'm currently learning are Classical piano and improvisations on themes, like music from movies or shows. I started how to improvise about 6-7 months ago. I learned how to read chords from my teacher and learn different techniques from Classical works and from Kyle Landry's improvisation videos.
