Apr 10, 2008 - yep because we live in a society that is still seperated underneath all the bullshit so when speaking of a person they feel the need to make it known what color this person is

Apr 29, 2008 - The African Express will be leaving the station soon, destination...THE WORLD. You've and your family have ALWAYS had your tickets, all you need to do is climb onboard.
kdlbm300 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - Have you ever visited any pro African boards? If not, give it a try. I know if you have never called or seen yourself as African, then to do so may feel a little fake, but after you get to know why, it will feel like a hand made designer suit. My intention is not to try to force any labels on you sister not if you're really are happy calling yourself and your kids black, but hope your not. Our ancestors were brought here against their will, reclaim what is you and your childrens' birth right.
kdlbm300 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - Don't let your non African blood be a barrier, a percentage of us have non African blood, just as a percentage of 'whites' have African or some other non white genes flowing through them, but that doesn't' stop them defining themselves as European, American or white. Me and you are connected, in the eye of non Africans, we are both niggers. You may have a lighter shade of skin, but your features are not that of a mulatto, and you mind certainly isn't 'breed bias'.
kdlbm300 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - African American., so you should in no way feel uncomfortable with the term African American. The term 'black' is a racist term created by Europeans to identify the haves & the have nots or the abusers & the abused. It has no history. You are part of a great & rich heritage. You are so 'level headed', it pains me to think that you perceive and describe yourself using this 'non person' 'non connective' word 'black'. We see you as African, because you ARE African.
kdlbm300 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - You look no different than many African females who proudly call themselves African...and rightly so. you certainly have the attitude of an African American female, strong and fiery and I will bet that you have African art around your home, art created by Africans, for Africans. In fact judging from your videos, much of your culture has a strong African presence. Don't worry about justifications, an African who was born on the continent, will always refer to himself as an African not
kdlbm300 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - I can still see the African influence in the Caribbean culture I have in the uk. You can see the African influence in a 'black' culture where ever it is on the globe. An Irish Americans may never of set foot in Ireland, but their culture is Irish, which makes them Irish American. The same for is true for Chinese Americans. Culture alone does not entitle one to claim the race of that culture, there has to be some blood-tie there.
kdlbm300 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - @ lovie2000, The reason we Africans born in the diaspora, all ourselves African or African-something, is to make that connection to our heritage. Where ever you go, you will find that the culture of which ever African America, African Caribbean, African Brazilian, is still vary close to a African culture. I am in the United Kingdom, my parents are from the Caribbean, and even though I have never set foot on either the continent of African or on any Caribbean soil.
lovie2000 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - I never claimed to be mulatto, I said my grandmother and and her father were labeled as mulatto
lovie2000 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - It is not that I feel uncomfortable. I see the reality that I will not call myself an African American for the simple fact that I am not African. I was not born there and I have never been there, I can say..... that I am of African descent, but I am not an African.
lovie2000 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - And no I do not have any African art around my home.
lovie2000 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - oh, I take that back, I forgot about the little women dolls that my cousin gave me, but the points is I don't go out and buy African Art. There is nothing wrong with it, but I just don't go hunting for it as if I need to have it around my house.
lovie2000 Says:
Apr 29, 2008 - I am all for knowing about my history and family line, but do you actually believe that every black or person that calls themselves "African American" will end up tracing the heritage to only end up in Africa. Do you actually believe this because I don't. No one really knows and rarely ever finds out the truth about where their ancestors really came from.
kdlbm300 Says:
May 1, 2008 - Sorry babe, I re read my comment and it sounds stronger than I intened it to. I didnt mean it to sound like I thought, that you considered yourself mulatto. You don't appear to have that mulatto arrogance or dislike of african herritage. Not my intention babe.
kdlbm300 Says:
May 1, 2008 - African decent is vary good as it is vary accurate. That is a definition of all despora Africans. I use that on occasion to describe myself. What is important is the word 'African'. We must not allow ourselves to lose that connection. It unites people all around the globe who are treated like shit because of their racial mix. Can I ask, how do you identify your kids, by that I mean racially? I am just curious so please be gentle with me. I know a mothers instint to protect her child!!
kdlbm300 Says:
May 1, 2008 - No, but I have never really thought it necessary to trace my history back that far. I may feel to in time, but for now, I feel content to learn about the many cultures on the continent. It's more than just 'know' the culture, its living it. We as diaspora Africans are in a unique position, we can enjoy African culture without tying ourselves to any one particular area. I believe that one of our biggest problems is a lack of true identity. No other racial group is so cut off from their heritage.
kdlbm300 Says:
May 1, 2008 - As a result, we are people of the modern, and the urban. Black culture is of rap, of ghettoes, of Adiddas and Nike, of trainers, tracksuits and hoodies, of fast cars and mobile phones. Not a really appropriate for members of the oldest civilisation. I'm not saying that we must all change the way we live our lives, just to reclaim some of what we have lost. I'm sure our youth will benefit from this. Every other child has a true culture from which to ground himself.
kdlbm300 Says:
May 2, 2008 - No need to hunt. African American culture has African influences. You can witness this in our music, yes, even in hip hop. What I'm getting at is that you are drawn to black identity because you were brought up with it and it feels natural to you. Unlike continental African culture because our ancestors had their culture 'removed'. Obviously how deep you go is entirely up to you, but why not explore and see what was so important it had to be 'suppressed' you may like what you discover.
lburianek Says:
May 11, 2008 - I would choose both Black and White
mikecockrell Says:
Jun 11, 2008 - Fucking mualttoes...We need to separate from half blacks!!!
leon1894 Says:
Jun 17, 2008 - Nobody cares bout ur fucking grand mother, fucking stupid people, the World is already this way, so u just have to live ur life and leave people alone, if there black or white we all have the same damn rights....
lovie2000 Says:
Jun 17, 2008 - And obviously no one cares about you either. Out of everything I said in response to someone else, you can only come up with how nobody cares about my fucking grandmother, get a life and move on cause you don't phase me, and rest your soul
LiberatedSpirit Says:
Apr 10, 2008 - But if you like and feel happy/comfortable calling yourself a "black american woman" that is fine with me. But yeah i HATE racists. Anyway i listened to the music you have done on your website! And WOW! Nice work! Take care ;)
