This brief clip shows twelve prize New York City cyclists poised for flight after another launch of The Balloon Project. The chase was the race, with the ultimate objective of following and capturing the balloons carrying a video camera. No registration fee, no manifest, no checkpoints, no planned route, no strings attached; just the wind, gravity, and chasing it down by bike. Today's launch began at Columbus Circle, and with a north-north-eastern wind, had a trajectory of about 30-40 blocks primarily over Central Park. About The Balloon Project: started in San Francisco when a few friends, intent on getting a bird's eye view of the city, launched a video camera attached to balloons. Other launches include Santa Cruz, Texas, Berlin, and Times Square on New Years Eve, 2008. Visit www.theballoonproject.org, or www.youtube.com/theballoonproject to learn more.

Jan 8, 2008 - Hells yes! The actual balloon camera was retrieved--complete with stunning aerial views--from a 70-foot tall tree in Central Park today. Definitely check on The Balloon Project's channel and website in the next month or so for when they post the final product!
