Jan 21, 2008 - I agree with your comment. It's my opinion that Apple didn't mean for the MB Air to be a "main" household computer. It is meant for travel/Business people. Data, nowadays, is stored on flash (thumb) drive. No need for an optical drive. I think the MB Air is a good concept, but I think the general public will need to be further persuaded on this for it to sell. I like it, but it is definitely pricey.

Jan 21, 2008 - I think apple should have released a "normal" desktop computer at around 800 or 900 hundred dollars (not like the mac mini an actual desktop). I believe David feels his way also. I don't have a mac because I'm too poor I wish they wold have a cheaper desktop option.

Jan 21, 2008 - watch it at the "nalts" channel entitled "apple's obsession to thin" hahaha.

Jan 21, 2008 - Hey thecreativeone, I think you are right about the overpriced MacBook Air. I think that Apple will bring down the price pretty soon like they did with the iPhone. If it then costs around $1299, like you said, then I might think of buying one. For now lets wait and see what happens.

Jan 22, 2008 - "Remote Disk" is nothing new. You've been able to share an optical drive over your local network for years.

Jan 24, 2008 - I think it's unbelievable that locked the iPhone... I mean it sucks that it's taking, well till now, like 4 days to hack it.

Jan 25, 2008 - id rather get a macbook

Jan 25, 2008 - What a fucking moron... they made the smart move in releasing the MBA. The MBA is a step towards the future of laptops. The optical drive is definately going to be leaving all computers soon.

Jan 26, 2008 - I don't think this justifies calling me a "f*cking moron." Watch your language in my comments. And I have to disagree about the optical drive comment. CDs and DVDs for software are not going anywhere anytime soon.

Jan 26, 2008 - I think that the MacBook Air will have a similar demise to the PowerMac G4 Cube. Their both small, REALLY expensive, and were not as powerful as they could have been.

Feb 10, 2008 - I would MUCH rather prefer a major update in the MacBook Pro line, which I've seen rumors of another chipset update, and the possible addition of the multi-touch trackpad as a standard on new MBPs... We'll see in the next few months. And $1799 as a starting price for the Air? NO! No optical drive, lack of peripherals, same size screen, and so on? Nice idea, but I don't see it becoming a successful product. Save your time, get a MacBook, or a MBP, you WILL not be sorry. BAM!! :)
kippis05 Says:
Feb 10, 2008 - And by same size screen I meant as compared to the MacBook's 13.3 inch screen.

Feb 10, 2008 - Nice point. At first I saw the MacBook Air I was like" I want it. Then i hear these good points. and i don't want it anymore. anyway i just got a macbook in October of 2007.

Feb 13, 2008 - When you said that you didn't think the new MacBook would take off so well because of the price, I don't think you were thinking about the audience. Because earlier in the video you said that it was for a person who travels, or is a college student, etc.

Apr 2, 2008 - i would pay $799 for HP laptop, macbook air would sell like pancakes if it was $599. Only thing i really really love about apple is ipod/iphone. They have done just fantastic job on those. But laptop, desktop, appletv and time capsule thing not really into it.
a11562086 Says:
Apr 6, 2008 - it makes sense tho cause the macbook air is an ultra portable laptop so if u compae it to other ultra portable laptops its actually cheeper . and the air offers more than other sony for example ultra portable laptops. but if i was apple i would of priced it at 1000
nickypickysticky8 Says:
May 28, 2008 - i think the macbook air would act as a secondary laptop, or a laptop for one who uses a desktop most of the time. they would want this to maybe go on a plane, or train, or a coffee shop or something like that. even if that is the purpose, who really needs 2 laptops?
jerrry13157 Says:
Jan 20, 2008 - i agree. they should price it at like almost 800 bucks. it's WAY overpriced.
