Jan 7, 2008 - Sima Yi won almost everything for Cao Wei. Therefore it makes sense that Sima are the inheritors of a unified China. BUT they had horrible system of ruling and succession, so China quickly fragmented to 16kingdoms and later North and Southern Dynasties.....

When Sima Yi was the greatest Wei general, he knew Wei could not live without him, so he used his position to promote his sons as vice-generals. This way, he made his family very powerful in Wei, eventually displacing the figureheads of Cao family.
