This is the Sukhothai Traimit Golden Buddha Image. It is the largest gold Buddha image in the world, weighing aprox. 5 tons. It was covered in plaster to conceal it from invading armies. It was(re)dicsovered to be gold in 1955, when the temple was being built. It is almost 16' tall from base to tip of crown and 12'5" in diameter.
